Happy Leap Day! In celebration of the Gregorian calendar’s little quirks, we’d like to share Jane Hirshfield’s poem “February 29” with you.

In other news, you can test your knowledge of courtship is classic novels in The Guardian’s 2012 Leap Year Quiz on literary marriage proposals. Also, has as anyone else noticed that leap years coincide with Presidential elections?

This weekend, we’re also re-read Zadie Smith’s “Ten Notes on Oscar Weekend” from her essay collection Changing My Mind. Smith writes, “The Oscar ceremony most resembles Christmas in its sense of anticlimax.”

Submissions to the Spring issue of the Wellesley Review close this Friday, March 4 at 11:59pm. Email your art, poetry, and prose to thewellesleyreview@gmail.com.
